Abstract

This study is a study of the relationship between the style of leadership and effective schools in comprehensive secondary education within Sekong province, which aims to: study the leadership style of the board of directors at comprehensive secondary schools within Sekong province, study the effective school model of comprehensive secondary schools within Sekong province and test the relationship between leadership style and effective schools in comprehensive secondary schools within Sekong province. This study model is a quantitative study (Quantitative research design) to study the opinion of the board of directors and teachers on the condition and relationship of the style of leadership and 16 effective secondary schools within Sekong Province.  The sample group for this study is all 371 directors and teachers, including 324 teachers, and 47 directors. The tool used in this research is a questionnaire that was developed from the theoretical concept, checking the emotional reliability value from qualified people to the IOC value and testing (Pilot) with a target group of 50 people. The statistics used in the data analysis include the confidence value of the questionnaire (Correlation Reliability), frequency value (Frequency), percentage value (Percentage), average value (Mean), standard deviation value (Standard Deviation) and Pearson Correlation analysis using SPSS software. The results of the study found that: the average value of the three leadership styles is at the level of very agreeable opinions, such as the highest average value is the Democratic Leadership style. The next is Autocratic leadership style and the last level is the Laissez-Faire leadership. For the results of the analysis of effective schools, namely: effectiveness in teaching and learning, effectiveness in administrative management and environmental effectiveness, and effective facilities and effectiveness in administrative management, the average value is in the opinion level of 'very agree' as well. For the results of the analysis of the relationship between the style of leadership and the effective school, it was found that: the three styles of leadership, namely: Autocratic leadership style, Democratic Leadership style and Laissez-Faire leadership style are related to the indicators of effective schools with a static correlation interval at the level of 0.01 and the level of 0.05. The relationship between the low level of relationship and the high level of relationship is combined with a relationship.
