THE EFFECT OF USING BIO EXTRACTS ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF LETTUCE BY HYDROPONIC CULTURE
Keywords:
Bio extract, Hydroponic culture, and lettuceAbstract
The development of hydroponic culture by considering about environment impact and it can be decreased the cost of production, the use of bio-extracts waste from plants and manures requires a research study to use it to replace inorganic chemical solvents, so the study on the effectiveness of the use of bio extracts on the growth and yield of lettuce in the hydroponic culture is necessary. The objectives of this study were to study the effects of nutrients in the four bio extracts formular and to study the effects of bio extracts on the growth and yield of lettuce in hydroponic cultures. The experiment was curried out at Agriculture and Forestry office in Pathomphone district, Champasak province, duration of the experiment took about 5 months, since January 10th to June 25th, 2022. This study was used the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiments with 5 treatments and 3 replications as the follow: T1= AB Solvent, T2=bio-extract from fruit, T3=Urea (bio-extracts from Soybean),T4=bio-extract of manures from pig and T5= bio-extract of manures from cattle, all the formular had the same ratio 1L/100L of waters.
Form the experimental results showed that the experiments by using AB solvent and all 4 formular of bio-extracts for the growth and yield of lettuce in hydroponic cultivation system; it was found that: AB solvent can meet the growth and yield of lettuce better than all 4 bio-extracts with a statistical difference (P<0.01). By yielding vegetable salad equal to 12.38 kg. In the next sequence, lettuce which use bio-extract from cattle’s manure has growth and yield equal to 6.30 kg. It is known that there is a good tendency to use bio-extract from cattle’s manure to replace AB solvent which is a high cost. Also, for all of 4 bio-extracts formulars, these are EC values that are close to each other and can be used for growing lettuce and with a pH that is within the standard range for hydroponic culture.
Therefore, the use of bio-extract from cow’s manure is an experiment that can increase productivity and replace the use of AB solvent. In addition, the information can be in hydroponic culture to obtain products with an environmentally friendly production process.
