Abstract

A study was conducted to examine the condition of service problems, library management and administration, as well as the satisfaction affecting service and library usage at Champasack University. The research spanned from October 12, 2022, to June 31, 2023, with a sample of 576 teachers and students. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Taro Yamane formula, along with descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The study revealed three main findings. First, the overall management of the library was rated as moderate, with a mean of 3.07 and a standard deviation of 0.75. Management specific aspects scored slightly lower (mean = 2.98, SD = 0.69 ) while service received the lowest rating (mean = 2.96, SD = 0.72 ) Second, the satisfaction of staff and teachers was assessed across three aspects, all rated at moderate levels: service and library usage (mean 3.14, SD = 0.7 ) building, location, and environment (mean = 3.38, SD = 0.78 ) , and information sources and facilities (mean = 3.12, SD = 0.73 ) . Third, student satisfaction was notably higher across all aspects, with high ratings for service and library usage (mean = 3.71, SD = 0.61 ) building, location, and environment (mean = 3.81, SD = 0.66 ), and information sources and facilities (mean = 3.52, SD = 0.73 )
The study also compared satisfaction levels between genders. Among teachers and staff, males reported higher satisfaction in service and usage (3.16%) and information sources and facilities (3.14%), while both genders had similar scores for building, location, and environment (3.39%). For students, males showed higher satisfaction in service and usage (3.73%) and information sources and facilities (3.54%), while females reported higher satisfaction with the building, location, and environment (3.83%).

These findings provide valuable insights into the current state of library services and management at Champasack University, highlighting areas of strength and potential improvement. The disparity between staff and student satisfaction levels, as well as the gender differences in various aspects, could inform targeted strategies for enhancing library services and user experience in the future.
