Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the problems of learning and teaching "Son Thi" words in Lao language in year 7 in Champasack province, namely: the situation of learning-teaching "Son Thi" words in Lao language, students' understanding of "Son Thi" words in Lao language and the problems of using Pali language along with Lao language correctly in terms of the application. The sample used in this study, the research team identified the outstanding schools in 10 cities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education and Sports of Champasak Province by identifying one school with one class, which has a total of 350 students.
The findings revealed that:
1. Problems of learning - teaching "Son Thi" words in Lao language of students in year 7
within Champasak province are:
The overall teaching-learning situation is moderate
Students' understanding of "Son Thi" words in Lao language is found to be at a moderate level, but based on the test, it is found that there was a lack of understanding at many levels.
2. The correct use of Pali language in Lao regarding its usage, students were able to use it at a moderate level.
