Abstract

The purpose of this research is 1) to study the situation of research problems of teachers at Pakse and Salavan Teacher Training College, 2) to compare the situation of research problems of teachers at Pakse and Salavan Teacher Training College according to experience in teaching, experience in training and research studies, gender, age, educational qualification and educational location, 3) to plan to solve problems and develop the research work of teachers in teachers' college better. The sample group used in this research is 143 teachers who teach in Kupakse College and Saravan College. The tools used in this research are questionnaires for teachers and interviews with 1) the director, 2) the deputy director in charge of academic work and teacher development and 3) the head of the department of science and teacher professional development. Statistics used in data analysis are: percentage value, average value (X) standard deviation value (SD), test value (T-Test), test value F - test.

The research results found that:

The problem of conducting research of teachers at Pakse and Salavan Teacher Training College. Overall, there is a moderate problem with an average value (X ̅=2.63). When considering the aspects, it is found that the most problematic aspect is the support for doing research with an average value (X ̅=3.06), the aspect of readiness to do research with an average value (X ̅=2.60), the characteristics of researchers with an average value (X ̅=2.58), and the personnel related to research with an average value ( X ̅=2.55), knowledge and skills in doing research have an average value (X ̅=2.52) respectively, while the least problematic aspect is the researcher's ethics found to have an average value (X ̅=2.45). The results of the comparison of the research problems differentiates according to age, educational qualifications, experience in teaching duties, experience in training how to conduct research and study, research work and educational facilities have statistically significant differences. The way to solve the problem must be to promote, support teachers to conduct research by arranging additional training for teachers, teachers must study from the context of many research projects, open up sources of research documents, pay attention to support and encourage teachers to see the benefits of research, support the budget to be used for the teacher's research appropriately, hire qualified people to provide advice that is acceptable and reliable at the standard level for research.
