Abstract

The purpose of this study is 1) to study the factors affecting the teaching effectiveness of primary school teachers in Pakse City, Champasak Province 2). to compare the factors affecting the teaching effectiveness of primary school teachers in Pakse City, Champasak Province, by gender, age, educational qualification and work experience. 3) to study the teaching skills development needs of primary school teachers in Pakse City, Champasak Province.  The samples of this research were 131 teachers in 34 public primary schools in Pakse City, Champasak Province selected by Krejcie and Morgan's finished table model and 5 administrators selected by specific model. The research instument were questionnaires and interviews. The statistics used to analyse data were  frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and  F-test .

The research results found that:

Factors affecting the teaching effectiveness of primary school teachers in Pakse City, Champasak Province was at a high level as a whole (  = 4.20, = 0.45). When considering each aspect, it is found that all aspects were at high level, which are arranged in the order of average value, from more to less, according to the order, it is found that the teaching technique has more average value than others  (  = 4.36, S.D = 0.47), followed by the knowledge of the students (  = 4.26, S.D= 0.51), the knowledge of subjects and course goals (  = 4.21, S.D = 0.54) and the teacher's professional responsibility. (  = 3.85, SD = 0.76).

Comparison of factors affecting the teaching effectiveness of primary school teachers in Pakse City, Champasak Province, distinguished by gender, age, educational qualifications and different experiences. There were opinions on the factors that affect the effectiveness of teaching  was at a high level as a whole and in each aspect and there are no different opinions at a statistical significance level of 0.05.

In order to develop the teaching and learning of primary school teachers, teachers need training and technical exchange, to learn lessons on using the updated curriculum, to  understand the subjects and speed up the learning and teaching according to the course goals, teachers should upgrade their knowledge of teaching, deepen various teaching methods and select the content to be taught in accordance with the objectives of teaching, guidance teachers should implement monitoring, encouragement and support in a systematic and continuous manner. In addition, teachers must pay attention to researching learning methods, teaching methods that are in line with the guidelines for teaching lessons, administrators should have an arrangement to inspect and monitor the arrangement of teaching and learning strictly as well as organizing training in the production of teaching materials, recommending the use of teaching materials to teachers as well.
