Study the willingness to pay of improving rubbish management in Pakxe city, Champasak Province.

Abstract

This study is to survey households willingness to pay for improving rubbish management in Pakxe City, Champasak Province, Laos. The purpose of the study are: 1) How much people are willing to pay for improving rubbish management; 2) What factors determine the households' willingness to pay and 3) What the main problem of households to manage their rubbish. With 712 households were interviewed as well as logit and full model analysis were used. The result finding that people are willing to pay for improving rubbish management is approximately 82,442 kip/household/month (USD 10.18). The factors determine WTP are bid price, income and gender, those are statically significant at 1% and 10% confident level. Therefore, the main problems for rubbish management are no space within villages for stationing rubbish, lack of labors to collect rubbish in Tangs or Baskets and lack of vehicle to transit rubbish to landfill receptively.
